Properties: | Form White to light brown solid, flakes, crystal powder or liquid. Same as 2,4-D except for replacement of one chlorine atom by a methyl group. M.t. 114-119°C V.p. 7.7 x 10-6 mbar. Non-corrosive. Solubility: At 20-25°C. in ethanol 150 g/l; acetone >200 g/l. Pol-Chwastox Extra*: Density 1.18-1.21 g/ml at 20°C. |
Uses: | Translocated herbicide in small grains, rice, peas, grassland, sugar cane, tree crops, turf, and noncrop areas for postemergent control of many annual and perennial broadleaf weeds. |
Toxicity: | (Rat): Acid Oral LD501160 mg/kg; dimethylamine salt 1000 mg/kg; isooctyl (2-ethylhexyl) ester 1606 mg/kg. Acid Inhalation LC50 >6.36 mg/l; dimethylamine salt >4.72 mg/l, isooctyl (2-ethylhexyl) ester >4.5 mg/l. (Mouse): Oral 550 mg/kg. (Rabbit): Acid Dermal LD50 >4000 mg/kg; isoocytl (2-ethylhexyl) ester and dimethylamine salt >2000 mg/kg. |
